Excellent choice. You will be happy with the 211.

Change of camera as supplier failed to deliver the Axis 211 Mad

Have now got a Panasonic BB-HCM580. This is already working with Firefox for viewing the MJPEG stream, so looks like it is already doing part of what I am after.

Any opinions on this camera and setup tips?

How's your mpeg4 on that? My mpeg4 panasonics ALL give IE6 (on xp/sp2) fits after about 20-30 seconds. Two different cams, two different computers, same effect: the stream pauses for a couple of seconds every now and then, and the browser software, apparently, can't cope, and tends to lock up the mouse (and everything else) for a few seconds. It's probably a software (as in, cam filter whatever) problem since my own streaming/rendering has no problem dealing with the lapse (other than the lapse itself, which is annoying in a $800 camera).

I don't see the lapse (or related problem) in mjpeg mode.

mjpeg on the new panasonics is yuv411, which is a real, real oddball (422 is pretty much the norm everywhere else, including the previous panasonic cams). I have no idea why they went with that (other than a little less bandwidth). It makes having to do format conversion unaccelerated, while 422 is fully accelerated.

Regarding the mpeg4 problem, as usual with Panasonic tech support, nothing happened. The guy wanted access to my camera (you know, over the net), but since I said it happens to my other mpeg4 panasonic (c111) it's not the camera. That's the last I heard (I've sent the problem report twice now). All are flashed to the most-recent available firmware. Ah, well, it's only a dog in a browser; fortunately I do all my own software so I don't depend on any of their win32 code.

BTW, I like the pan movement; sort of robotic when it comes to a stop ---whirrrrr (pan/ramp down/stop), not whirchnk (pan/stop).

I was also looking for a wireless camera to embed in a web site. THe problem is that you need to have the bandwidth to distribute the video to many viewers for live events. I want to find a wifi camera that can transmit a flash video stream to an internet FMS Flash Media server. That way all I need is a cordless camera on a tripod with a power cable. That's it.

I am trying to plan a wedding and to stream video live. I'm going to use http://www.mogulus.com with a small laptop and a web cam. I wish I could just use regular IP cameras but they cannot encode the signal and transmit to a video server. When you add up the cost, you can just by or rent a laptop for an event and use mogulus for free.

if anyone has any other alternatives that simplify the cost and process let me know.

Camera has been physically installed in Portugal, but still waiting for the broadband connection, so can't use it yet Sad

Image quality appears to be very good and 360 degree panning is a nice touch.

Any updates on the new y-cam black coming out?

I've another camera to do (still to finish the first) and the y-cam sounds ideal.
